The picture was intended, I believe, to illustrate a vertical launch. If it was meant to be viewed from the perspective of "straight up" it should be framed that way. The launch is obviously not vertical, and the whole situation is moot, given the overwhealming evidence that the Navy shot the airplane down. See Rick Savages post on this board, and read James D.
